We have a returning customer who recently experienced damage to one of their black liquor evaporators. Several of the tubes collapsed and is limiting production. The evaporator is approximately 100 inches in diameter, 26 feet tall and has 928, 2-inch OD 18-gauge straight tubes. It is used in the pulp and paper industry. At this point the cause of the collapsed tubes is unknown and is being investigated.
If you look at the picture in this posting, you can see an example of collapsed tubes. If enough of these collapsed, we would most likely perform a re-tube. CHMCU has extensive experience in evaporator rebuilds including re-tubes, tube sheet, heater shell, and vapor dome replacements. CHMCU has the shop and field capabilities to provide a turnkey rebuild project.
